Thought of the Day
A question we might ask ourselves is….
“IS THIS WHAT I WANT TO BE DOING?”
Assess what you’re feeling and ask yourself many times every day if you like what you're doing. If the answer is no, start noticing what you'd prefer. Thus begins the revolution.
Parenting in the Summer

What? Stop?
But it’s the holidays!!
Sure, you can do anything, but do you really have to do everything??
With a few small changes, it is possible to have a holiday experience filled with joy and cheer —
But taking care of yourself is the first step!
Here are a few quick ways to take care of YOURSELF this holiday season...
1. Set boundaries with others — and yourself. Instead of thinking you have to do everything, could someone else pitch in?
2. Give yourself a break. Even 15 minutes curled up in a blanket with a hot cup of tea could give you just the recharge you need.
3. Be grateful. Directing more attention toward gratitude for the things that make your life wonderful is scientifically proven to make you healthier, more energetic, less anxious, and sleep better.
4. Breathe. Here is a quick meditation you can do in an instant. When you’re feeling stressed, breathe in as slowly as possible while thinking "I am". Then exhale just as slowly, and think "at peace”. Repeat as needed until the tension starts to melt—which likely won't take long.

I Got it from my Mama!
Where do you get that great sense of style? Your natural wit? The ability to cook and welcome people into your home with such ease?
Your mama?
Without thinking much about it, we pick up a lot from our moms and are likely raising our children with some of her same traits and values.
And every single day, we pass down our own thoughts, ideals, and quirks to our children while nurturing and guiding them.
Whether it’s your sense of humor, moral code, generous spirit, warm smile, or downright good looks…..your children reap the benefits of you being YOU!
Happy Mother’s Day!!
Give Flowers to the Living!
What does it mean to "give flowers to the living"?
When someone passes, we traditionally send flowers or share what we particularly cherished about that person - her greatest qualities, unique gifts, the way she made people feel, a special moment shared. It’s lovely.
But do you ever wonder if the person who passed knew how deeply treasured she was when she was alive?
Why wait to share with someone how great you think they are… how kind and thoughtful they are to their neighbors? How much you appreciate their friendship? How good they make you feel when you’re having a rough day? These are the ‘flowers’ we can give to people in our lives today and every day!
Ever since I heard this saying several years ago, I have been inspired to notice more of the positives I see around me in the many wonderful people living, working, and playing in our town…and then, I try to remember to tell them.
If you think something positive about another person, why not say it? We each have the opportunity to genuinely bring joy to someone’s day - extend a sincere compliment, express gratitude, or simply give someone a needed boost. After all, April showers do…bring May flowers!
